Myitkyina is the capital of Kachin State which produces the best jadeite in the world. It is
situated in the northern part of Myanmar. It is a hill station, cool and pleasant all the year
round. There are air-links connecting from Yangon and Mandalay. Flights from Yangon to

Puta-O is the nearest town to the base camp for climbing Mt.Khakaborazi, the highest
Mountain in Myanmar and South East Asia. It is 1,169 km from Yangon. Domestic flights from Yangon to Puta-O take about two and half-hours. About 2 days drive from Mandalay by car. Worth visit to Local Hill Tribal villages, hiking to Mt.Khakaborazi and Mt.Phunganrazi.

Mt.Hkakaborazi is situated in Kachin State, is famous not only for wild orchids, but also for trekking destinations.
Tarong tribe is an endangered race of diminutive people, none of whom is more than 4 ft. in height. Seeing the whole region surrounded by the Snow Clad Mountain and forest is very
enjoyable. Hill tribes such as Lisu, Rawang, Khanti-Shan and Jing Hpaw are very attractive to eco tourists.
The wild orchids 134 avian species were also recorded, among them the
impeyan pheasant and the blood pheasant are endangered. The Hkakaborazi region is the home of the rare "blue sheep", the red goral, the tar kin, the scow, and the black beaking deer leaf deer. The richest of the biodiversity deserves the interests of eco tourists.

The Kachin, or Jing-hpaw, as commonly known in their language is one of the largest national races of Myanmar. The Kachin are predominantly Christian and the animist ceremonies of their ancestors are now celebrated as part of upholding their culture heritage.

Manau Festival

They celebrate the Kachin New Year, a good harvest or the unity of the different tribes and clans gathering at the Manao Festival to feast and dance together. It is a gentle and slow group dance without touching even at the fingertips. The festival is celebrated in December or Kachin State Day in January.
